Getting started with Joomla

One of the first thing you need to do, especially if you are accustomed to the traditional way of creating web pages using HTML, is to think differently. You need to change your web mindset. Joomla! is PHP and database driven. This means  pages are generated dynamically. Most of your content is stored in database tables - all this is different from the traditional text based HTML page which you would code and upload to the server. In Joomla the page only comes to life  when the content is linked to by the visitor.

Joomla! CMS separates content from presentation and structure. This is a requirement in terms of the new standards for web development, as laid down by the World Wide Web consortium. The presentation and structure is handled by the Joomla! template and core PHP programs. You create  and  write  your content and then publish it to your website.

With Joomla you can build robust and powerful websites. Using the power of PHP you can add great functionality with elements such as modules and components.

There are also thousands of third party extensions that  help make Joomla a very powerful platform and framework for developing websites.
